Redmond O'Neal Sentenced To Rehab
The 26-year-old son of actors Ryan O'Neal and the late Farrah Fawcett was sentenced today to a year in a live-in rehabilitation program after pleading no contest to drug and weapons charges.
Redmond O'Neal, who entered his plea to one count each of heroin possession and possession of a firearm by a felon, also was ordered to serve five years on probation, according to Jane Robison of the District Attorney's Office.
The judge suspended a three-year state prison term, which O'Neal will not have to serve if he complies with the terms of his probation, she said.
The charges stemmed from an Aug. 2 traffic stop, which occurred after O'Neal ran a red light while turning his 2010 Nissan Altima from northbound Lincoln Boulevard onto Olympic Boulevard.
He is also on probation for a felony drug count linked to his 2009 arrest in a county jail parking lot in Castaic.
