Fireworks-Free On The 4th Of July?

The 4th of July without fireworks?  Whaaaat??

Due to budget issues this year, some cities are cutting back or canceling their fireworks shows altogether!

Redondo Beach is one city that won’t let budget constraints get in their way. In fact, they are making their show even bigger.

NO FIREWORKS:
Torrance
Marina del Rey
Inglewood (they actually stopped several years ago.)
Lawndale (they’re blaming construction and renovations at Lawndale High)
Lomita (ended their show several years ago.)

FIREWORKS:
Carson (a show at the Home Depot Center after the Galaxy game)
El Segundo
Gardena
San Pedro (there will be a scaled down show at Cabrillo Beach.)
Hansen Dam Recreation Area (San Fernando Valley, laparks.org)
Irwindale Speedway (July 2, $15-25)
Woodland Hills (Dennis Zine’s annual event, Warner Park, Woodland Hills, free, parking $15)
Porter Ranch (Shepherd of the Hills Church, free)
And, our personal fave (we’re biased!) the July 4th Fireworks Festival in Studio City on the CBS Radford Lot, 4024 Radford. More info, including tickets and prices, www.studiocitychamber.com.
