New Waterfront Park in Wilmington

Just in time for summer, a new waterfront park opened on C and Figueroa streets in the city of Wilmington.

Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and L.A. Councilwoman Janice Hahn were on hand for the big grand opening event on Saturday.

Wilmington Waterfront Park is a 30-acre green open space at the Port of Los Angeles.

It includes performance venues, a playground, picnic areas, pedestrian bridges and water fountains.

The park also serves as a buffer from traffic and noise pollution.
