LOS ANGELES, Calif. (KTLA) -- A group of Greenpeace activists rappelled down the Mattel building in Los Angeles Tuesday morning to protest the company's packaging practices.
A protester dressed as Barbie was taken into custody while the others where removed from the building by police and fire crews.
The protesters attached a 2,500-square-foot banner from the El Segundo building with the message: "Barbie: It's over. I Don't Date Girls that are Into Deforestation."
Rolf Skar, Senior Forest Campaigner for Greenpeace USA, says packaging for the children's doll is made from Indonesian rainforests which are "being ripped down for quick profits so fast there soon will be nothing left to protect."
The group says Indonesia has one of the fastest rates of forest destruction in the world.
Mattel has not commented on the claims.
