Happy Birthday Marilyn

DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES – The iconic starlet with soft blonde curls and sad eyes would have celebrated her 85th birthday this year, but since her death 49 years ago, Marilyn Monroe’s memory has been kept alive through the decades by various institutions.

Los Angeles Wine Tasting and Andrew Weiss Gallery pays tribute to the timeless actress with a birthday celebration and silent auction on Friday at 7 p.m.

The gallery offers original photographs of the Some Like It Hot star by the likes of George Barris, Milton Greene, Bert Stern, Bill Carroll and Kashio Aoki.

Wine, food and chocolate will be served on the Los Angeles Athletic Club‘s rooftop.

Monroe’s original clothing such as a Pucci blouse she wore when rehearsing "Happy Birthday Mr. President" for John F. Kennedy in 1962 will also be on display, but not for sale.

Tickets are $55-$68 and can be purchased at (213) 625-2211 or lawinetasting.com/wine-pairing-events.html. Los Angeles Athletic Club is at 431 W. Seventh St.
