Jeff Conaway -- Do Not Resuscitate

Actor Jeff Conaway’s family members haave decided to turn off the actor’s life support system, marking a sad end to his battle with substance abuse.

The family, who has kept a vigil at the Encino hospital where Conaway is in a coma after being found unconscious at home, say his fight will end.

"Doctors advised the family that Jeff has had no brain function since he was brought into the hospital," a source close to the situation said.  "The feeding tube has already been removed. The ventilator which is breathing for Jeff, will be removed sometime this afternoon.”

“Jeff is in no pain whatsoever."  It's unknown how Conaway will cope when the machine is switched off, but there will be no further attempts to resuscitate the actor.  "No measures will be made to try and revive him once the breathing tube is removed," the source said. "Jeff has remained unconscious."

The former Taxi star, now 60 years old, was hospitalized back on May 11 for what was thought to be a prescription drug overdose.

Dr. Drew Pinsky, who treated Conaway on Celebrity Rehab, said the star was suffering from pneumonia and sepsis, a severe blood illness.

Our thoughts go out to his family and friends.

  1. How can any of us believe in God when he takes a guy like Jeff and leaves Gary Busy and Meatloaf behind to live on?
