Jesse James and Kat Von D Split

It's over. Jesse James and fiance Kat Von D have broken up nearly a year after their relationship became public.

The couple began dating in August , 2010 after rumors swirled and tabloid photos emerged that the couple was together -- just weeks after the scandal broke that James was cheating on his then wife, Sandra Bullock.

Von D, 29, who stars in the reality show "LA Ink," broke the news of the split on her Twitter page Monday night saying "I am no longer with Jesse, and out of respect for him, his family and myself, that's all the info I'd like to share. Thanks for respecting that."

James, 42, is reportedly blaming problems in the couple's relationship on their long distance relationship. Von D lives in Los Angeles, James lives near Austin, Texas with his children.

The marriage would have been James' fourth and second for Von D.
