Man charged with stalking Paris

VAN NUYS - A man who was already facing a misdemeanor charge of violating a court order that requires him to stay away from Paris Hilton was charged today with two felony counts of stalking the socialite, along with three misdemeanor counts of disobeying a court order.

James Brian Rainford, 36, was expected to be arraigned on the new charges some time today, and the earlier misdemeanor count is expected to be dismissed.

Rainford last week pleaded not guilty to the original charge. He was arrested on the Fourth of July after authorities received a call about a man standing on the beach and looking into Hilton's home in the 21000 block of Pacific Coast Highway, according to sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore.

Rainford -- who was ordered last Oct. 13 to stay away from Hilton -- was being held in lieu of $150,000 bail.  He faces up to five years in prison if convicted.
