Weekend Box Office Results


LOS ANGELES - "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" earned another $47.1 million over the weekend to land atop the box office and become the highest-grossing film of the year domestically, according to final figures released today.

The 3-D sequel has earned $261.1 million in two weeks of release, putting it ahead of "The Hangover Part II" and "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides," according to Hollywood.Com Box-Office.

The success of "Transformers" left two new comedies battling it out for second place, with the raunchy romp "Horrible Bosses" ($28.3 million) outpacing "Zookeeper" ($20.1 million).

"Cars 2" placed fourth over the weekend with 15.2 million, while "Bad Teacher" remained a popular choice, earning $8.9 million between Friday and Sunday.

Rounding out the top 10 at the domestic box office were "Larry Crowne" ($5.9 million); "Super 8" ($4.8 million); "Monte Carlo" ($3.8 million); "Mr. Popper's Penguins" ($3.2 million); and "Green Lantern" ($3.1 million).
