Ratings: 'The Event,' 'Law & Order: L.A.' Up; 'House' Season Finale Drops Sharply

In an evening that was predictably dominated by ABC's 'Dancing With the Stars,' the season finale of Fox's "House" experienced a dramatic dip compared to last season's sign-off, while NBC's "The Event" and "Law & Order: Los Angeles" experienced pronounced boosts, according to preliminary numbers.

The first part of the "Dancing" season performance finale at 8 p.m. was down 6 percent from its performance finale last fall, but nonetheless took the top spot of the night with a 4.6 rating/13 share in the adults 18-49 demo and 22.1 million total viewers. The season premiere of "The Bachelorette" the following hour was flat with its last premiere, garnering a 2.8/7 in the demo and 9.2 million total viewers.

Fox's primetime roster was a mixed bag for the network, with the season finale of "House" tumbling 23 percent in the demo compared to its previous finale last May, taking a 3.3/10 in the demo and 8.9 million total viewers. (The show still nabbed the second-highest ratings of the evening.) The following hour's "The Chicago Code" jumped 11 percent from last week with a 2.0/5 in the demo and 7 million total viewers.

NBC, meanwhile, started the night with "Minute to Win It" at 8, which drew a 1.5/4 in the demo and 4.2 million total viewers. The series finale of the recently canceled "The Event" led the science-fiction thriller out on a bright note. It climbed 15 percent over last week's airing with a 1.5/4 in the demo and 4.5 million total viewers. "Law & Order: Los Angeles," which has been climbing in the ratings in recent weeks following a March relaunch, continued its ascent on Monday, surging 27 percent from last week's episode with a 1.4/4 in the demo and 5.9 million total viewers.

CBS' roster consisted mostly of repeats, with back-to-back reruns of "How I Met Your Mother" at 8 and 8:30 taking a 1.5./5 and 1.5/4 in the demo, respectively; a "Two and a Half Men" repeat at 9 scoring a 2.2/6 in the demo and 8 million total viewers; and a previously aired "Mike & Molly" at 9:30 nabbing a 1.9/5 in the demo and 7.2 million total viewers. The evening closed with the special "Clash of the Commercials," which drew a 2.0/5 in the demo and 6.9 million total viewers.
