Rapper's Tweet Flood Sheriff's Station, Delaying Service

DN -- A tweet sent by the rapper known as The Game containing the number for the sheriff's Compton Station prompted hundreds of calls, delaying emergency service and sparking a criminal investigation today.

Calls started last night around 5:30 p.m. after the rapper whose real name is Jayceon Terrell Taylor told his nearly 580,000 Twitter followers to call the number on his posting for an internship, said sheriff's Lt. Suzan Young of the Compton Station.

"This was beyond irresponsible," sheriff's Capt. Mike Parker told the Times. "The deputies' ability to answer the phones and dispatch personnel to help these people in danger was significantly impeded."

The rapper later posted that his account was hacked but also tweeted that it was "an accident."

Investigators were documenting Taylor's twitter actions as a criminal complaint and plan to send their findings to the LA County DA's Office.
